Over the summer I found myself exploring the realm of dubstep, yet somewhere in my heart I still found myself craving the sounds of DNB. Don’t get me wrong, I enjoy dubstep and especially when the beat drops, but I’m always going to prefer Drum & Bass (DNB) over dubstep (my obsession all began with Roni Size & High Contrast). Personal preference. Surprisingly, I’ve met many people who listen to dubstep, yet some have never heard of Drum & Bass. Man, that’s tragic!
DNB is spectacular! Whether it’s the traditional DNB or Liquid DNB, I still love the overall atmospheric vibe. There so many different BPM’s and experimentation within the genre of DNB, but Hospital Records is home to some of the best DNB in the industry, as well as DNB guru S.P.Y.

Carlos Lima a.k.a S.P.Y is a Brazilian born producer that has made London based record label Hospital Records his home. He exclusively signed to the label since last year, and he’s already been making quite a bit of noise in the DNB scene.

His debut artist album What the Future Holds will officially be released on October 1st, and since the album release is right around the corner, Hospital Records has unveiled the new music video for the album titled single “What The Future Holds.”

We can expect to hear some amazing DNB on his debut album, but thus far “What The Future Holds” is proving to be a phenomenal atmospheric track. It’s got one of the best build ups I’ve ever heard in a DNB track, and the timing is impeccable; not too late, not too early, the beat comes in at the right time.

DNB is the perfect soundtrack for driving, especially late-night drives. I’ve got a long cross country road trip coming up in three weeks (details to be unveiled soon,) so you know I’m going to be driving through the states blasting DNB, and of course, house.

I need to make a trip to the store and burn some CD’s for the car (sadly car doesn’t have iPod hookup), but you can be sure I’m adding S.P.Y.’s debut album What The Future Holds

more awesome tracks from S.P.Y.
